Clik here to view. The Duke of Cambridge isn't willing to put his wife and the mother of his two children at risk -- royal duties be damned. Prince William reportedly fears for Kate Middleton's life after British Prime Minister David Cameron revealed there was a terrorist plot against the royal family two months ago -- and he's even asking Queen Elizabeth for help.
As you may have noticed, the 33-year-old duchess has been making the rounds from one charity event to the next lately -- which is great for us because we've missed seeing her on the scene. She is even overcoming her anxiety about public speaking by delivering powerful and moving speeches and revealing details about her childhood. By all accounts, she seems happy to be out after spending a few months in seclusion after Charlotte's birth.
But William isn't reportedly thrilled about her exposure to the public at a time when threats are being made against the royal family and everyone remains on high alert. The prince is reportedly not letting on that a reported terrorist plot against the family is a grave concern for him, but he may be turning to Queen Elizabeth to request that she reduce the number of royal affairs Kate is expected to attend and put the brakes on any and all of the royal couple's travel plans outside of the U.K. I wonder what that might mean for Kate and Will's trip to India this spring?
More from The Stir: Rumors Swirl That Prince William & Kate Middleton Will Be Next King & Queen
I don't blame William one bit for feeling scared and protective of Kate, Prince George, and Princess Charlotte. We can't allow fear to stop us from living, but that doesn't mean the royals should ignore intel about possible threats to their lives and continue attending events without taking extra precautions.
I can't imagine the Queen would disregard Wiliam's anxieties about Kate and their family, but at the same time, she has to ensure she isn't bowing down to terrorists by doing exactly what they would love -- locking themselves up indoors and wielding less influence over the public. The royals have to take care to protect themselves, but to also set an example for others that they won't allow terrorists to strip them of their freedom. It will be interesting to see how Kate and William navigate this scary world and achieve that balance while also thinking about George and Charlotte and their needs.
