In Fifty Shades of Grey, Dakota Johnson plays virginal Anastasia Steele, a character who can hardly believe Christian Grey wants to undress her, never mind introduce whips and chains into their relationship. But in real life, the 26-year-old may be anything but pure — as actress Leslie Mann pointed out before calling her onstage to accept the Calvin Klein Spotlight Award at Elle magazine's Women in Hollywood Awards event.
Leslie, who stars alongside the brunette beauty in the upcoming How to Be Single, had the honor of introducing her friend prior to her accepting the cool award, and she did so with a whole lot of humor and sarcasm: "Dakota's performance in Fifty Shades of Grey is really remarkable because in the movie she too plays a virgin and you believe it — but in real life she is not," Leslie joked.
Later on in the introduction, Leslie made it known that Dakota would be the complete opposite of meek if she met a real-life Christian: "She would suspend him from the ceiling and smack him open like a piñata." In other words: Dakota can act her brains out because, if Leslie is to be believed, she shares zero in common with her innocent on-screen character.

I think it's funny that both Dakota's mom, Melanie Griffith, and her grandmother Tippi Hedren were sitting in the audience at the event, but as far as the joke's having any shock value for them, I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that ship sailed long ago. Dakota isn't the type who is ashamed of her body or her sexuality — she's pretty much the only person lots of us can picture killing it in Fifty Shades because she's the ideal combination of brainy but also trusting and open to sexual adventures.
Given her appreciation for a fine joke, and her ability to dish as well as she can take (she spent a good portion of her acceptance speech thanking, but not really thanking, her mom and grandma for allowing her to put cornrows in her hair when she was younger), I'm confident Dakota took Leslie's quip in the spirit in which it was intended.
