If you can pull off this style, you can do anything. Dakota Johnson recently rocked mom jeans in New York City — and I think it's safe to say she is slowly but surely discovering her own unique sense of style.
The Fifty Shades of Grey actress, who just wrapped up How to Be Single and is enjoying some quiet time in NYC prior to filming Fifty Shades Darker, was spotted out and about on the street with a friend rocking an outfit many women under the age of 60 wouldn't dream of wearing. The 25-year-old paired light-wash, high-waisted jeans — otherwise known as "mom jeans" — with a simple white T-shirt, leopard fur belt, and adorable ankle-wrap black ballet flats. And she magically managed to look adorable and chic:
The reason she looks young and fresh has everything to do with her rolled-up jeans, which provide just a glimpse of her amazing shoes, and the cinched-in waist — mom jeans are notorious for making women look shapeless, so a belt is a necessary "do" if you're planning on copying her style.
This same look paired with white sneakers would be disastrous, and Dakota knows the best way to play up the casual but elegant effect of her jeans and accessories is by keeping her brown bob just a teeny bit messy.
