Princess Charlotte's christening was far more symbolic than any of us thought. While many people have criticized the Duchess of Cambridge in recent weeks for skipping out on royal duties and events, some say Charlotte's baptism signifies just one way Kate Middleton has changed Prince William for the better and helped humanize the royal family.
In contrast to the way Prince George's christening was a very private affair, Princess Charlotte's baptism was unprecedented — the public was actually invited to photograph the royal couple and their little ones as they walked along a path to church. Will and Kate's giving nature that day was something Will's late mom Princess Diana would have likely appreciated. As a middle class commoner, Diana was constantly being made to feel like an outsider, according to sources, and Will is dead set on making sure his lovely wife and her family are not ostracized.
Sources say Kate has helped Will get more in touch with his emotions and that her parents have provided for him an example of a loving, functional family, while Will has compromised with Kate on more than a few occasions by including her family in photos and events that would have otherwise been strictly off-limits to non-royals.

Will is also reportedly trying to give his children a more normal, down-to-earth upbringing — similar to what Kate enjoyed. Unlike his father Prince Charles, Will apparently doesn't employ tons of maids and footmen and he and Kate are spending a great deal of their time with George and Charlotte at out-of-the-way Anmer Hall in Norfolk.
Kudos to Will for not allowing family pressure to influence how he acts or who he loves. Kate seems like the ideal partner for him — one who will help him achieve balance, get more in touch with himself, and perhaps live the life Diana dreamed he would have.
