Clik here to view.It certainly seemed suspicious when Nick Viall appeared out of nowhere on The Bachelorette, just when Kaitlyn Bristowe and Shawn Booth were falling deep for each other, and some fans believe it was no coincidence. A writer for Glamour has come up with a conspiracy theory that Viall was hired by producers to step in and shake things up after Bristowe put a wrench in their plans by telling Booth early on that he was the one.
Once the other contestants realized that the 30-year-old dancer already had her mind made up, some say they threw up their hands and decided not to try so hard to win her affections because, well, what was the point?
Enter Viall. The Bachelorette veteran had already proven he could be controversial and generate publicity after blabbing to the world that he had slept with Andi Dorfman, so when producers discovered he and Bristowe had been flirting a bit via text messages and social media, they thought: sweet. In order to knock Booth off his perch and wake up viewers, Viall was brought in, Booth became nervous, the two became instant rivals, and the other guys remained ghosts.

Now, the biggest problem with this theory is that it doesn't explain why Bristowe and Viall hooked up. Was their sex subplot a big lie? I highly doubt it. Given all the crap Bristowe has taken for becoming intimate with a guy she liked, I'm going to go out on a limb and say no amount of fame or pressure by producers is worth all of that drama. Second, she and Viall deserve Academy Award nominations if they were actually acting instead of really falling for each other. No, these two definitely had chemistry.
Still, I agree with the writer: Viall's sudden presence doesn't feel natural. I'd buy that he was hired, and I'm convinced he was in this for fame and not true love (though I believe he really dug Kaitlyn, but I also think he would have made out with any pretty Bachelorette who afforded him precious screen time).
At the end of the day, The Bachelorette is a reality TV show that wants to make boatloads of money and increase its viewership. The idea to hire Viall (I mean, to ask him to join the cast, since we have no proof this conspiracy theory is true) was a genius one and I have a difficult time believing his arrival was fate.
