Remember when you were in high school and there was that one girl who claimed she HATED another girl soooo much, yet couldn't stop bringing her up in conversations? I imagine that's how Martha Stewart's friends must feel about the entrepreneur/cook/decorator/general goddess by now. We know she doesn't think much of Gwyneth Paltrow and spent the better part of last year slamming the actress for trying to break into the lifestyle biz with her GOOP website.
We get it, Martha. You aren't exactly hiding your true feelings.
But can someone please tell her enough is enough and she needs to move on? Because Martha's latest comments about Gwyneth are her meanest yet.
In an interview with Net-a-Porter's magazine, Martha reportedly told a reporter: "She just needs to be quiet. She's a movie star. If she were confident in her acting, she wouldn't be trying to be Martha Stewart."
Oh, boy. What should we focus on first here? How about the fact that Martha Stewart is reportedly referring to herself as "Martha Stewart?" No, not important -- okay, let's focus on the issue at hand. She is totally out of line with this diss!
You can say a lot of things about Gwyneth, but not confident? I doubt that. And it's silly to say a person should just stick to one thing that they do well. If that were the case, then chef Gordon Ramsay could easily tell Martha to stay out of the kitchen and limit her efforts to providing tips on how to decorate pumpkins for Halloween.
And if you really want me to get out my cat claws, we all know Martha was once a fashion model, right? Basically, a pretty mannequin. Where would she be now if a million doors shut in her face when she was trying to pursue other career opportunities?
If Martha can't support another woman in her business endeavor -- or if she simply feels Gwyneth doesn't add value to the lifestyle business -- she should take her own advice and keep "quiet."
How do you feel about Martha's comments about Gwyneth?
