It's official -- Katie Couric is a married woman! The 57-year-old former Today show reporter and personality married 51-year-old financier John Molner yesterday in an intimate wedding at her Hamptons home. Katie was so excited she posted adorable pictures of her venue and flowers on her Instagram, and she shared her first "debut" picture as the new Mrs. Molner on Twitter. If they had wanted to, the couple could have thrown a Kardashian/West-type fete, but they opted to keep things small and intimate -- and their wedding sounds like it was truly perfect.
Katie and John had ideal weather for their outdoor garden reception, which was filled with roses, peonies, dahlias, and other colorful blooms. Here's a look at her yard, where guests enjoyed dinner and a strawberry lemon wedding cake:
Sigh. It looks like a setting pulled straight from a fairy tale.
Katie's children, Ellie, 22, and Carrie, 17, were there with John's children, Allie and Henry, and his young nephews and nieces served as ringbearers and flower girls.
Couric must have a real passion for gardening, because most of her Instagram photos from the reception were of her floral centerpieces. Here's a look:
Gorgeous! I'm loving the romantic dark and pale pink color theme she chose, which I'm guessing sweetly complemented Katie's ivory halter Carmen Marc Valvo gown, embroidered with crystal beads and Chantilly lace.
Katie and John got engaged in September 2013, after two years of dating. When she announced her engagement, she also joked that John would be the one serving as their wedding planner and that it would probably just be a "small dinner in New York."
This is both Katie and John's second marriage. Her first husband, Jay Monahan, died from colon cancer in 1998 and John divorced his first wife, Jane.
I love that Katie and John are comfortable with their relationship and so over the bells and whistles that accompany a big, traditional wedding that they chose to exchange vows in a small and sweet setting. Wishing them all the best in their new life together!
