Model Christy Turlington Admits She Looks 'Old'

Out of all of the '80s supermodels, Christy Turlington Burns always stood apart from the pack. The 45-year-old stunner, who was the face of Calvin Klein Eternity perfume -- and continues to pose for the brand -- wasn't into partying like Kate and Naomi, and her classic beauty meant she'd never be a swimsuit calendar star, like Cindy Crawford.

But don't cry for Christy, folks. The yoga enthusiast and mom of two has one heck of a healthy head on her shoulders. We recently learned (as if we didn't already know) that she is the anti-Kardashian in one major way: the woman is NOT afraid of growing old and looking her age.

In an interview with Elle magazine, Turlington had this to say when asked about her feelings on wrinkles and aging: "Everybody is so anti-aging, but I don't want to look younger than I am. Our face is a map of our life; the more that's there, the better."

Now, we sometimes -- though not often enough -- hear famous women say this. I don't know about you, but I'll admit I think: Yeah, right. That's easy for you to say with those genes and cheekbones.

But that's just negative bull. I believe Christy, who left modeling behind in favor of completing her college degree in Comparative Religion and Eastern Philosophy, means what she says. She has thrown herself into charitable work and even founded a campaign called "Every Mother Counts" to prevent pregnancy- and childbirth-related deaths.

And, of course, she's been married to the very handsome Edward Burns for more than a decade, and the two seem like they have a strong, stable, loving relationship.

So, the secret to being happy with your age, as modeled (excuse the pun) by Turlington, is to involve yourself in all of the many other beautiful parts of life that have nothing to do with appearance. She helps others. She makes education and family a priority. There doesn't seem to be much room for plastic surgery thoughts with such a rich, fulfilled life.

I've always loved Turlington and her positive attitude about aging just makes me respect her even more.

Do you embrace looking your age?
