Kids can be so sweet. They make all kinds of promises when they're young that we know, as parents, will never materialize, but who cares? That isn't the point. My daughter tells me all the time that she's going to take me to the moon in a rocket ship she builds by herself. I'm probably not going to hold her to it, but it's the thought that counts.
Unless you're this guy -- a Reddit user named "Belairboy" who worked his tail off in order to get his dad a gift he vowed at age 8 he'd one day buy for him. Get your tissues ready because this is one video that's going to make you sob with delight.
The Kentucky man promised his father that, when he turned 57, he'd gift him a vintage '57 Chevy Bel Air. His dad, who isn't his biological father, apparently grew up as one of 7 children in a poor family. The Chevy had always been his dream car, but there was no way he would ever be able to afford one.
The son says he worked "60 hour work weeks over 6 days a week for a few months" at a factory in order to make this dream a reality. He stored the beautiful car in his garage.
And then there's this -- the most amazing message a son can write about his dad:
My dad has been everything to me, he is not my biological father but he IS my father. But this man in this video, my DAD my FATHER, was the best thing that ever happened to me and my mom and I hope I can be a fraction of the man that he is.
And here's the moment dad received his gift and an even greater gift than the car -- affirmation that his son thinks the absolute world of him:
