Juan Pablo Opens Up His Mouth AGAIN About Gay People

Post by Lisa Fogarty.

Just call him "Mr. Congeniality." I speak of the Bachelor's Juan Pablo Galavis, who, if you haven't heard, is a friend to and great supporter of all men -- whether they're straight, gay, or bisexual.

Yes, I'm talking about that Juan Pablo.

Maybe his love Nikki Ferrell is rubbing off on him in a good way. Maybe he has truly had a change of heart. Or maybe -- just maybe -- he is sick and tired of being hated by everyone in America. Whatever the reason, Juan Pablo has decided to come out on Twitter (no, not that kind of "coming out") and has kind of, sort of, shown his support foropenly gay NFL playerMichael Sam. Whew, we bet Michael is super relieved he has an ally in JP!

In case you've forgotten, let's review Juan Pablo's unfortunate history with running his mouth off about gay people. A few months back, he announced that he didn't think it was a good idea for the Bachelor to cast a gay contestant because he didn't think it was a "good example for kids to watch that on TV." You know, as opposed to them watching him get busy in a hot tub with a chick he has no intention of dating.

He's certainly entitled to his opinion, of course. But then we discovered that his opinion includes comments like the one he let loose about how gay people are "more perverted in a sense."

Holy Moses.

But that was then and this is now. Juan issued an apology on his Facebook after those comments went public, and took things one step further recently by tweeting his downright liberal feelings about gay college football player Michael Sam, who was drafted this week to the St. Louis Rams and made headlines by kissing his male partner in celebration.

Here's what Juan had to say about the country's reaction to Michael:

Watching SportsCenter Decision Day for @MikeSamFootball, SAD the NFL made a BIG deal of his Sexual Orientation. He is a FOOTBALL player...

While I agree that Michael is a football player first, I think JP is missing the point: it is sort of important that people see and accept gay NFL players because, hello, the odds that Sam is the only gay player out there (as opposed to being the only one who is open about it) are slim.

But the bigger problem here is that I'm agreeing with something Juan Pablo has to say about sexual orientation. Shouldn't he be exercising caution and NOT sharing his thoughts on the topic -- at least not until enough time has passed so that we forget his original comments? It's totally possible he's trying to redeem himself, and good for him if that's the case. But I can't help feeling he should stay quiet unless he plans to elaborate and perhaps explain why he has had a sudden shift in attitude.

It would be totally worthwhile -- possibly even touching -- if he could open up and discuss why he was wrong to say what he said back then and what he's learned along the way.

But hey, if Juan is going to talk -- and we all know by now the man loves to share -- this Twitter comment is the best we're going to get.

What do you think of Juan Pablo's Twitter comment about Michael Sam's sexuality?
