Quick: break out your violin! An actress who was once at the top and had every opportunity to capitalize on her success, but pretty much blew it because she wasn't a very nice person to people around her, is complaining that she hasn't made that much money in the last few years. Have you guessed who I'm talking about yet? Why, yes, Katherine Heigl, of course!
Katherine has been promised a leading role in the upcoming independent film Jenny's Wedding, but its producers are still trying to raise something like $120,000 by March 28 in order to get the project off the ground. So far, their campaign hasn't generated much income -- and Katherine isn't going to be any help in that department. The 35-year-old, who showed promise in Grey's Anatomy and went on to carry the movies Knocked Up and 27 Dresses, says she can't pitch in. She hasn't made that much in the last few years and she has to support her family, which includes two daughters, ages 4 and 2.
I don't think anyone actually expects Katherine to fund her own film -- that's not exactly her job. But her comment about being hard-up sounds utterly ridiculous considering she earned $12 million in 2010 for her part in Life as We Know It. True, she's only appeared in two films since then, neither of which caused much stir at the box office, but even if she made a cool $1 million from each -- and I'm sure she brought in much more than that -- does she really consider that a paltry amount of money? Sounds like someone needs to hire a better financial planner.
Or, hmm ... maybe she could just be nicer and not do things like complain about wardrobe, question the writer's choices, and refuse to leave her trailer.
