There's been more fallout from that massive meat recall, and this time it's Hot Pockets in the hot seat.
Nestle has recalled 238,000 cases of Hot Pockets that may contain some of the contaminated beef. Yikes!
Just to refresh: A staggering 8.7 million pounds of beef and veal was recently recalled by Rancho Feeding Corporation because it came from "diseased and unsound animals" that hadn't been properly inspected. The related Hot Pockets recall includes three different sizes of Philly Steak and Cheese Hot Pockets and Hot Pockets Croissant Crust Philly Steak and Cheese products.
Nestle's Prepared Foods Division says it may have used some of the tainted meat produced by Rancho in making the sandwiches last year.
The recall is only for Hot Pockets' two Philly Steak products, which were distributed nationwide. No illnesses have been reported, according to the USDA.
The recall affects products withbest-before dates of March 2014 and September to December 2014 with batch codesending in 4512 and 4513 for the following products: Philly Steak and Cheese 8x9 oz packages, Philly Steak and Cheese 4x5 oz packages, Philly Steak and Cheese 4x22.5 oz packages, and Croissant Crust Philly Steak and Cheese 8x9 packages.
So moms, check your frozen foods! Hot Pockets are especially popular among teens.
If you do find any of the recalled packages in your freezer, you can return them to the store where you bought them or call Nestle at (800) 392-4057.
