George Zimmerman
has spoken for the first time since he was acquitted for the 2012 death of Trayvon Martin -- and the man didn't hold back the hellish details of his current life, as well as his surprising future career ambitions. In a Spanish-language interview with Univision, Zimmerman said he suffers from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and that he has to live with bodyguards and bullet-proof vests because he continues to receive death threats.

Zimmerman also pointed a finger at President Obama, saying his remarks at the time of the incident about how Trayvon could have been his son further incited people to blame the former neighborhood watch captain for what he calls an action of self-defense. He says he isn't sorry for shooting Trayvon and that he just wants to live a normal, "calm life" that doesn't involve having his name in the newspaper all of the time.

Which is all fine and good -- but maybe don't sign up to fight in a celebrity boxing match against DMX, make sure you're driving cautiously so you don't get stopped so many times on the road, and handle your relationships in a "calm" manner so you aren't accused of domestic violence -- though, to be fair, those charges were dropped. Just a few thoughts.

He may make foolish decisions that I don't agree with, but at the end of the day, Zimmerman is an innocent man in the eyes of the law and part of me feels bad for him because he'll never live a normal life again. He's totally broke. He says he aspires to become a lawyer, but can you honestly picture that happening? Would you hire Zimmerman to handle your case knowing members of the jury will be more focused on him than your actual case?

My first thought when I heard Zimmerman say he has PTSD was -- what a slap in the face to members of the military who suffer from this condition as the result of defending their country. But, given the craziness in his life -- even though he brought on a great deal of the madness himself -- I don't doubt his medical claims. Now, given his desire to live a life that doesn't involve media attention, perhaps he should stop giving interviews and boxing celebrities and begin concentrating on his goals -- quietly.

What do you think of Zimmerman's claims that he suffers from PTSD? Do you think he could successfully become a lawyer?
