No wonder Jamie Dornan reportedly wants to postpone Fifty Shades Darker filming to spend more quality time with his family — the latest news about the Fifty Shades of Grey sequels suggests an intense production schedule is on the horizon, and all of the stars involved may want to rest up now.
Instead of waiting a year or two between shooting Fifty Shades Darker (the second film) and Fifty Shades Freed (the third and final story in the Grey trilogy), the current production plan is to film the two movies back-to-back in order to ensure that Darker can meet its Feb. 10, 2017, release date and that Freed will hit theaters on Feb. 9, 2018.
It's an ambitious move, and one that deviates from typical sequel shooting schedules, which often involve a break between filming. But I guess EL James and the folks involved really want to strike while the iron is hot and give fans all of the hot Christian Grey/Anastasia Steele sexy scenes they can handle without too much of a pause in between.

Fans of the novels will definitely appreciate this decision, but I can't help wondering how Johnson and Dornan feel about it. The absence of any free time between projects means neither actor will really be able to dig into another role for at least a year or even two, and that both are going to be forced to see less of their loved ones. Talk about a commitment.
For Dakota, that probably means putting the brakes on any attempt to truly connect with on-off boyfriend Matthew Hitt, or any other guy with whom she may want to get serious. But the stakes are even higher for Jamie, whose wife Amelia Warner is reportedly (maybe) pregnant or (possibly) harboring not-so-great feelings toward him and the Fifty Shades franchise at the moment.
Ah, well, what can they do but just roll with it? Here's hoping this crazy production schedule doesn't affect their personal lives too much.
