Clik here to view.Move over, Fifty Shades -- the next great romantic novel-turned-blockbuster film is all about the royal couple. Kate Middleton and Prince William are the subjects of an upcoming movie based on a novel inspired by their romance.
Heather Cocks and Jessica Morgan wrote a fictional tale called The Royal We, which sounds like a very familiar story (although they made sure to get a bit more creative with their interpretation). An American woman named Rebecca (Bex) Porter moves to the U.K. and attends Oxford University. While she is there, she meets Nicholas, a prince who will one day assume the throne. The two fall in love and then face the pressure of maintaining their relationship while dealing with the constant presence of the media.
Yep, there's even a ginger-haired brother named Freddie in the story and a woman who resembles Princess Diana, who is constantly being harassed by the paparazzi.
It gets even more interesting: The novel is being adapted for film by Parenthood stars Lauren Graham (of Gilmore Girls fame!) and Mae Whitman. Whitman is reportedly considering starring in the film, as well, and as wonderful as I think she is, am I alone in hoping she plays a Pippa Middleton role so that Alexis Bledel can play Bex? She'd be perfect!

I actually think it will be a lot easier to cast Kate (er, I mean Bex) than it will Nicholas because the role requires an actor who can act stately without seeming pompous or affected by it all. And, I think it goes without saying that Helen Mirren should be cast as Queen Elizabeth -- what princess wouldn't quake in her presence?
The project is brand-new and a release date has yet to be announced for the film. But it's never too early to get excited about a movie that focuses on Kate and Will.
