On Monday night's episode of The Bachelorette, viewers got confirmation on a secret that was let out of the bag months ago: Kaitlyn Bristowe and contestant Nick Viall couldn't keep their hands off of each other.
And, yes, Kaitlyn and Nick went all the way behind closed doors and now the 29-year-old Canadian dance instructor has to live down nasty, slut-shaming comments for having the audacity to do what billions of people do in the privacy of their bedrooms. Viall proved a gentleman when he took to Twitter to defend Bristowe.
I think it's important to note that, no matter how much of a double standard it is, Viall didn't have to say a word about having sex with Bristowe. And, for that matter, Bristowe didn't owe the world an explanation, either. She chose to be honest about her interaction with Viall, and she immediately paid for it because, at the end of the day, many people aren't ready to accept a woman who is confident in her sexuality and unashamed of having sex with someone who isn't her husband.
Sometimes it truly feels like we're still living in the 18th century.
Anyway, I'm not sure what Viall read or heard after the show, but his Twitter rants were amazing. And so true:

Kaitlyn showed a lot of courage by admitting 2 having sex on national TV knowing that she will be unfairly judged by some. #TheBachelorette

Sex is not shameful. Whether we admit it or not, sex is important part of many serious and meaningful relationships #TheBachelorette

Both men and women have an equal right to have sex without judgement #TheBachelorette#bachelorette

The last thing anyone should do is knock a woman down for being truthful about her desires and sexual actions. We've come far defending the rights of women, but we're still in the dark ages where sex is concerned. Kudos to Viall for understanding he has a moral obligation to say something.
What are your thoughts on the way Nick Viall defended Kaitlyn Bristowe?
