We've all seen Jaden Smith rocking a dress by this point, right? The 16-year-old son of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith has made no bones about liking women's clothing and so what? Women can wear pants, men can wear dresses — express yourself however you desire. But some may take issue with the fact that he recently attended a traditional school prom with Amandla Stenberg, an actress who played Rue on The Hunger Games, because instead of wearing a tux, he donned a black and white dress.
Look, Jaden is a stylish little dude. And he obviously oozes confidence because he said to hell with it when he attended Stenberg's prom and chose to wear a long white skirt, black suit jacket, black leggings, and black sneakers. While girls across the country — and some boys — are being kicked out of prom left and right for wearing so-called "inappropriate" outfits, I'm going to guess no one stopped Jaden at the door. Rather than take an "oh how unfair" stance, I commend the school for having an open mind — all schools should follow suit, as far as I'm concerned.

If my son were to come to me in 16 years and announce that he wanted to start wearing dresses, I'd praise him for having the inner strength to value his own creativity over what his peers thought. More power to Jaden for dressing in a way he deems comfortable — and kudos to Will and Jada for supporting him.
