Mama June wasn't happy with the way she says she and Alana "Honey Boo Boo" Thompson were treated when they appeared on the TV show The Doctors seeking weight loss help for the 9-year-old Here Comes Honey Boo Boo star. But June Shannon isn't about to let her bad experience keep her from helping her daughter shed weight and get healthy and — for better or worse — she has chosen to document the child's weight-loss journey on Instagram.
By following a sensible diet and exercise program, and with the help of a long-distance personal trainer, Alana lost eight pounds in one month, according to June — which is fantastic:

Before anyone accuses June of using her daughter's weight loss as a way of either staying relevant or proving to the world that she is a responsible mom (something she feels The Doctors didn't do): I agree that there might be a little bit of that in here. But I can't fault June for wishing to prove people wrong about her. She's only human and has the same desire we all do to be seen as a caring parent.

So, perhaps her intentions in documenting Alana's weigh loss aren't 100 percent pure — does that really matter? Bravo to her and her daughter for following a smart diet plan that doesn't involve crazy powders, potions, shakes, or starvation. Good for them for sharing her success so that other parents who face the same problem feel encouraged that they, too, can help their children lose weight.
There's only one thing missing here: June should make note of Alana's exact diet and exercise plan, which would greatly help other parents. Whether you love her or love to hate her, June and her family are still in the public eye and this is a positive way for them to use their fame.
Do you think Mama June should document Honey Boo Boo's weight loss journey or keep it private?
