A man who moved to Dallas from Iraq just three weeks ago was reportedly shot dead while taking photos of the first snowfall he had ever seen. Ahmed Adnan Ibrahim Al-Jumaili, 36, was standing outside of his Texas apartment with his wife and his brother at around 11:40 p.m. Wednesday and taking photographs of the beautiful landscape when he was reportedly shot in the chest.
After being shot by at least one person, Al-Jumaili reportedly shouted, "I'm hit" and ran back to his apartment. He was transported to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital, where he died shortly after midnight.
This horrific and sad incident remains a mystery to police, who are offering a $5,000 reward to anyone with information. Witnesses reportedly say they noticed four men who appeared to be in their late teens or early 20s enter the gated area leading to their apartment complex and then approach Al-Jumaili and his new wife and sibling.
Unfortunately, no one thought of the men as a threat, so a vivid description of the suspects is not available.
Several shots were reportedly heard fired from what police believe was a rifle, but ballistic tests are still being done to determine what exactly happened.

Police say they aren't ruling out the possibility that this was a hate crime, but that they do not have any evidence as of right now to prove that Al-Jumaili's Iraqi background was a motivation.
It's so sad to think of these newlyweds trying to start over in the United States and then being forced to face down this kind of tragedy. Our hearts go out to this man's widow and family and we hope police apprehend the suspects as soon as possible.
