Kristen Stewart Has Some Interesting Things to Say About 'Twilight'

Interesting things happen whenever I write about Kristen Stewart in a positive way (because I really do like her and think she's talented and quite compelling): she gets slammed. I get slammed. It's a veritable slamfest. You either hate Kristen or love her—there's no room for anything in between. It doesn't help her case that the Still Alice actress is a woman of few words, but in a recent interview, those few words were all she needed to defend Twilight.

K-Stew was recently interviewed by punk legend Patti Smith for Interview's March fashion issue, in which she looks quite a bit like a modern-day punk princess:

She came clean about everything from her fashion choices (she really does make an effort to wear heels, but can't make it beyond three minutes) to that idea everyone has about her being stuck-up, when she says she's really just straightforward and more comfortable on her own.

What most people probably don't expect is that she's also completely open about the Twilight films and the hell she still gets over her choice to take on the role of Bella.

Kristen admits lots of folks kept asking her whether she was planning to secure a movie part that proved she was a "real, serious actor" after Twilight and her response was perfect: "Was I not being a real, serious actor?"

Here's what else she had to say:

"Anybody who wants to talk S**t about Twilight, I completely get it, but there's something there that I'm endlessly, and to this day, f*****g proud of. My memory of it felt—still feels—really good."

More from The Stir: Kristen Stewart Wants You to Call Her the 'F' Word

Even if Kristen looked back and felt embarrassed that she had been a part of the Twilight franchise, and there's no reason for her to feel that way, I always find it tacky when actors slam past projects. They were lucky to be cast in films that others spent so much blood, sweat, and tears creating and getting off the ground. Kristen seems to understand that and exhibits gratitude.

Plus, as she also mentions in her article, Twilight helped her become the actress that she is now. She needn't mention Robert Pattinson, but, obviously, we can't help but think falling in love with him wasn't too terrible a job perk, either.

What do you think about Kristen Stewart's defense of Twilight?
