Raise your hand if you aren't at all surprised by this news. Dustin Diamond, who played everybody's favorite lovable nerd Screech on Saved By the Bell, is in deep with the law after he was arrested in Wisconsin on Christmas Day for exhibiting some very un-Screech-like behavior: police say he stabbed a man.
Diamond, 37, was reportedly charged with one felony countof recklessly endangering safety and two misdemeanors for carrying a concealed weapon and possession of a switchblade. He was taken into custody and has reportedly been given a $10,000 bail.
So here's what we know: police reportedly responded to an incident of a stabbing at a bar called the Grand Ave. Saloon in Ozaukee County at around 11:15 p.m. on Christmas. Well, it turns out the actor and his 27-year-old girlfriend were hanging out at the bar and allegedly got into a fight with a man. Things reportedly escalated and police believe Diamond stabbed the man and then fled the scene with his girlfriend in a white SUV.
Okay, I take back what I said before about not being surprised. Just because this man has made a porno and released a tell-all book about his former Saved By the Bell cast members that pissed off every single one of them doesn't mean it seems plausible he would allegedly stab a man on Christmas Day. Make that on any day.
But that's the story so far, guys.
Police reportedly recovered the knife in Diamond's vehicle. His girlfriend has reportedly been booked for disorderly conduct and has been released. And the good news is, thank god, the victim has been treated at the hospital and is at home. It's insane to think, had the knife been thrust a little deeper or slightly to the left or right, Diamond would be facing manslaughter charges.
Diamond claims he acted in self defense and says he and the woman were attacked in the bar. And, since there are videos of everything these days, you bet there's a video of this incident.
Happy holidays?
