The MTV Europe Music Awards are a big, big deal and they're taking place today in Scotland. One performer who has made quite a splash overseas is Ariana Grande -- not only is she singing live at the event, but she's up for a whopping six awards, including Best Female performer and Best Song (for Problem, which she sings with Iggy Azalea).
So, you may have noticed Ariana's wardrobe keeps getting more and more risque -- a fact that few of us find shocking since we realize the 21-year-old is going to win over tons more male and female fans if she markets herself as an "innocent" sex symbol. Britney did it and it worked like a charm, right? Anyway, it seems Ariana may have bitten off more than she could chew on the MTV EMA red carpet when she wore a dazzling, but revealing black gown -- the starlet admitted that she felt "so naked."
Ariana did something unusual for a star at a major event and wore her trademark long hair down and unadorned -- a choice I love because it brings much-needed innocence to this otherwise "scandalous" look:

While I can understand why Ariana might feel somewhat exposed, she has certainly worn less while performing onstage, don't you think? I actually like the interesting peek-a-boo cut-outs here -- sure, she's showing a bit more cleavage than usual, but she's also covered from the top of her chest to her neck, which makes it look classy, and not trashy.
Ariana said wearing her hair down made her feel even more naked, and I guess that's because she is sporting a look that she would wear out in public. When you get all dressed up and opt for a sleek up-do you sometimes feel like you're wearing a costume. Ariana's look seems more fresh and honest and, I think, perfect for a rising star who is old enough to show a little skin, but still too young for all-out, Jennifer Lopez-style bling and glitz.
