A 15-year-old girl from Michigan has been charged with stabbing her 12-year-old brotherin the throat and plotting to kill her entire family in order to run away with her 23-year-old boyfriend.
Roksana Sikorski has been charged as an adult with four counts of conspiracy to commit murder and one count of assault after she began to carry out her horrific plan, reportedly under the tutelage of her much-older boyfriend, Michael Rivera.
As Rivera reportedly sat in a car outside the family's Detroit home at 2 a.m. last Friday, police say he texted instructions to Sikorski as she made her way around her house with the intention of killing her brother, younger sister, mother, and father.
The teen reportedly attacked her little brother first by stabbing him in the throat. She then allegedly tried to stab her little sister. Her brother's scream woke up their parents, who were able to run to his side and get him help at Mott Children's Hospital. He is reportedly recovering after surgery.
Meanwhile, Sikorski and Rivera reportedly took off in his car and hid at a house in southwest Detroit. Police found and arrested them both the following morning.
The girl's mother says she met the older man online through Facebook and that they only found out about her relationship with him after she ran away from home this summer. Her parents say they adopted Sikorski and her siblings from Poland and that she was 4 when she came to the US. They added that prior to her arrival here, she dealt with a horribly abusive family situation -- which included being locked in a closet and beaten.
They also say she was receiving treatment for depression and ADHD, that she has never before been violent, AND that they are supporting her all the way throughout this trial.
As for Rivera -- who told police he was planning on marrying the teen -- he faces seven charges, including conspiracy to commit murder. The teen's parents have, in the past, filed a statutory rape complaint against Rivera, but police say it may be dropped pending the investigation.
Rivera is being held on $100,000 bond and Sikorski has reportedly been released on a $1 million bond with the condition that she not have any contact with her two siblings.
Does this teen deserve to be tried as an adult or do you think the court should go easy on her because of her history and her boyfriend's influence?
