For those of us who go to extreme lengths to never have to run into an ex-boyfriend again, this story is going to boggle the mind. One woman in California was reportedly so eager to either see her former lover again or steal some of his things -- her exact motive is unclear -- that she actually attempted to shimmy down the chimney of his house. But -- make sure your Santa Claus-loving 5-year-old doesn't get wind of this -- it is apparently more difficult than you might think to slide down a chimney, and judging by what happened to this woman, there's absolutely no "shimmying" involved.

It took firefights two hours to pry 30-year-old Genoveva Nunez-Figueroa out of the chimney -- only so police could slap handcuffs on her.

The Ventura County Police Department received calls about a woman stuck inside of a chimney on Sunday at around 6 a.m. First, they tried to dismantle the chimney bricks by slowly chipping away at them. They finally had to pour liquid dish soap into the eight-foot chimney to help loosen Nunez-Figueroa's body and were able to rescue her at around 8:13 a.m.

The kicker: she had reportedly been trapped inside of her ex's chimney since 3 a.m. I'm not at all claustrophobic, but just thinking about it makes me shiver.

It was later discovered that the homeowner, who says his name is "Lawrence," but didn't want to provide his last name, wasn't at home at the time of the incident. He told police he met the woman online and that they went on a few dates. So, it's not like these two had some kind of long and painful history that she was trying to get past -- um, not that I condone breaking into an ex-boyfriend's house via the chimney because you're hurt that he broke your heart.

Lawrence says this isn't the first time his ex tried to get inside of his house from some access point on the roof.

After she was taken to the hospital for an evaluation, the suspect was arrested and charged with illegal entry and providing false information to a police officer.

Why do you think this woman was trying to get into her ex-boyfriend's house?
